A local favorite in Central Florida football for many years, Moffett is trying to get his professional career started with Daytona Beach of arenafootball2.  Moffett was a three year starting QB at UCF (2004-2006).

After trying to get into the Canadian Football League (CFL) and attempting to land a spot with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League, Moffett is determined to launch his professional career with Daytona Beach.

“I tried to sign with the Predators” Moffett said.  “They told me I had the talent to make it (in the AFL) but I need to find my niche and get some arena experience.”

Moffett admitted that the transition from the outdoor game to the arena game is a tough one.  “The arena game moves at a quicker pace and takes adjusting to” Moffett said.  “From the QB standpoint, what they teach you in arena football is the opposite of what coaches teach you in outdoor football.  In the outdoor game, you are taught to look for your short routes first and the deep ball second but in the arena game, its deep first and short second.”

Moffett was asked why he is interested in playing for Daytona Beach.

“With the popularity of af2 spreading around the country, it is a luxury to have a team in my backyard” Moffett said.

Moffett was asked what the fans should expect from him and the team if he winds up with Daytona Beach.

“I will bring competitiveness, athleticism, and leadership by example and the ability to make a play when things break down” Moffett said.  “It’s not just me but a very athletic team that will play a tough and exciting brand of football because that is what Coach Walls expects of us.”

When asked what his first impression was of Coach Walls, Moffett provided a short, sweet and to the point answer.

“He is fun to be around and I sense he is a player’s coach.”
