THUNDER TRAINING CAMP REPORT DAY 1: LOTS OF RAIN

DELAND, Fla. -- There were only three things transpiring Monday night at Sperling Sports Complex: Rain, more rain and thunder.
The Daytona Beach Thunder officially kicked off training camp on a night filled with slips and slides.
Wednesday will be the Thunder’s first full-contact practice and will give head coach Leon Bright more of an idea of what he is working with.
“Today was light, the real work doesn’t start until Wednesday,” said Bright.
Monday’s training focused on defensive drills and formations while Tuesday will concentrate on the offense and their playbook.
ON OFFENSE: Clinton Crump showed excellent speed while creating separation from the DBs
DEFENSE: Returning DB Durrell Preston played very tightly on all of his competitions and never showed any signs of slack.
HIGHLIGHT: On the last play of the night, Crump ran a post route that faked DB EJ Gordon to the ground, in what would have been an easy touchdown for the offense.
LOCAL LOOK- Bethune-Cookman’s Aaron Sheppard, who played in one game last year, took to the field after missing action during a January 13 tryout. UP NEXT: Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. -Taylor Holley
