DELAND, Fla. -- Improving week-to-week is a neccesity for a rookie quarterback. In Tavares Woodley's case, he got better from play-to-play.

With Daytona Beach Thunder starter Lawrence McCloud struggling in last week's 62-23 loss to Osceola, Woodley saw extensive time and worked his way into the starter's job for Saturday's game with the Columbus Lions.

Ten of 17 for 148 yards wasn't good enough to turn the tide, but it was enough to give head coach Leon Bright some hope,

"He's improving," Bright said. "He's adjusting to the the indoor game, picking up the targets faster and releasing the ball quicker.
"I'm hoping we can the running game going to help him out," Bright added."

Woodley spent time at Florida International alongside Thunder top threat Cory McKinney.
