DELAND, Fla. – It’s kick or be kicked [off] when it comes to determining the Daytona Beach Thunder’s kicker job.
Head coach Leon Bright is holding a two-day “kickoff” to see who will be handling the Thunder’s special teams on opening day February 11 against the Augusta Spartans.
Jaye Tyroff and Dakel Vardi held their final audition Wednesday, with Vardi being sent home. Two more workouts are scheduled Thursday.
Tyroff’s celebrity status in appearing in the recent “We Are Marshall” movie isn’t helping him, according to head coach Leon Bright.
“I don’t care if you were in a major motion picture, if you can’t put the ball in the end zone on kickoffs or be consistent from 25 yards and in, you’re outta here,” Bright said.
