DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Officials from the Daytona Beach Thunder of the American Indoor Football League will embark on a relief mission to Louisiana and Mississippi Wednesday morning, carrying supplies collected from the Daytona Beach area.

Working in conjunction with one of its sponsors, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant, and "Mission From God" -- a New Smyrna Beach-based effort led by Athena McFarland, over 90 boxes of clothing have been collected and will be loaded on the Thunder's new sleeper bus for transportation to the Gulf Coast area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

"It's our duty and our honor to help out our fellow Americans,'' said Thunder owner/CEO Zack McDonald. "When you have the resources and the ability to assist, you have to help."

The Thunder's bus is scheduled to at Bubba Gump's location in the French Quarter Wednesday afternoon. Bubba Gump's Regional Manager Jeff Ash has already made one trip to the area and has been coordinating with the Thunder for Wednesday's departure.

Afterwards, the bus will head to Hattiesburg, MS, where McFarland's efforts have been focused. One trip has already been dispatched to Mississippi.

Once the supplies are unloaded, the Thunder's bus will allow as many as 24 people to return comfortably back to the Daytona Beach area.
