DAYTONA BEACH , Fla. - The Daytona Beach Thunder's bus departed early Wednesday on a relief mission to Louisiana carrying supplies collected from the Daytona Beach area.
Working in conjunction with one of its sponsors, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant, over 90 boxes of clothing were loaded Tuesday on the Thunder's new sleeper bus for transportation to the Gulf Coast area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
"It's our duty and our honor to help out our fellow Americans,'' said Thunder owner/CEO Zack McDonald.
"When you have the resources and the ability to assist, you have to help. The bus is ready and we're eager to go."
The Thunder's bus is scheduled to arrive at Bubba Gump's location in the French QuarterWednesday afternoon. Bubba Gump Regional Manager Jeff Ash has already made one trip to the area and has been coordinating with the Thunder for Wednesday's departure. Ash is joining the Thunder management for the trip.
