DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --
These weren't Barry Wagner numbers -- one reception for 19 yards and one touchdown and one missed field goal return for 32. But the arena football great made his presence known in the Daytona Beach Thunder's 42-26 victory over the Augusta Spartans Saturday.
“It was good to be back on the field," Wagner said. "Daytona is a great city. I’ve got to get back into game mode but other that that it was great."
Credit Augusta's Kijara Thomas with good defense on Wagner, breaking up three long pass attempts that kept the six-time ironman quiet the first half.
Wagner didn't touch the ball until the third-quarter field goal return, but the play electrified the crowd.
His one catch gave Daytona Beach a 35-26 fourth quarter lead.
He saw action on defense and special teams, finishing with four tackles and one pass break-up.
"It was a great effort as a team, for us to came together and get this win not only for the city but for the memory of  Javan Camon."
