DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Beach Thunder has partnered with the Volusia County Board of Education to recognize the classroom achievements of area students during the 2007 season.
“Most Valuable Students” will be honored at Thunder games this season with two tickets and a public address announcement at each home game.
“This is one of our community projects and one that we feel is very important … we’re committed to the area and hope this inspires our students to excel in their academics,’’ said Thunder co-owner Antone Smothers. “
Participating schools will receive 50 certificates to distribute to deserving students. Smothers anticipates that 50 area schools will join the program.
