Despite a soggy start and some lightning delays the ThunderBirds visit to Conrad Park was a success. Players had the opportunity to meet and greet members of the Stetson/Deland community. They enjoyed giving away posters, t-shirts, autographs and smiles, and were able to connect with previous fans and even gain some new ones. “I like this opportunity to meet the fans in our community,” said Louis Brown, a former student at Bethune Cookman and current Defensive Back for the ThunderBirds.
Once the game was underway the ThunderBirds were able to watch and enjoy it from the stands, even participating in the t-shirt throws and crowd participation activities. “I had a lot of fun meeting the kids and taking pictures with them” said George Williams, a Defensive back with the ThunderBirds.
On what could have been a miserable weather delayed baseball game The ThunderBirds turned it into a festive gathering for fans and players alike.
